Turning a wellbeing concept into a distinctive digital brand
Outwood Retreats is a luxury woodland wellbeing retreat concept in the Kent countryside, created around the idea of giving people space to step away from the demands of everyday life, reconnect with nature and reset.
Gro-Star helped translate that vision into a distinctive digital presence — creating an online experience designed to communicate calm, quality and connection from the moment a visitor arrives.

The challenge
More than simply a website.
As an emerging concept, the digital presence needed to help establish the identity of the brand itself.
The challenge was to communicate the concept clearly, establish a distinctive and premium identity, capture the feeling of being immersed in nature, appeal emotionally, explain the experience without overwhelming visitors, build credibility, encourage exploration and enquiry, and provide a strong digital foundation as the business develops.
The website therefore needed to combine brand storytelling, visual design and commercial purpose.
What Gro-Star delivered
A joined-up brand and digital experience.
From idea to digital experience
Creating the feeling before the experience
For a retreat business, the website is often the customer's first experience of the brand.
Gro-Star designed the Outwood Retreats digital presence to create an immediate sense of calm, escape and connection with nature.
The visual direction, imagery, typography, layout and messaging work together to communicate the character of the retreat before a prospective guest ever arrives.
Rather than simply explaining what Outwood Retreats offers, the website is designed to help visitors imagine how the experience might feel.

Building a brand, not just a website
A digital identity built around the customer
As a new proposition, Outwood Retreats needed to establish a recognisable identity as well as an online presence.
Gro-Star approached the project from the customer's perspective:
- Who is the retreat for?
- What are they looking to escape from?
- How should arriving at Outwood feel?
- What information will help them decide whether it is right for them?
- And what should encourage them to take the next step?
Those questions informed the structure, messaging and visual direction of the website.
The result is a digital presence designed around the experience Outwood Retreats wants to create for its guests.
The customer journey
A natural route from idea to enquiry.
- 01Discover
- 02Connect
- 03Explore
- 04Envisage
- 05Enquire
Every element of the site should help move a prospective guest naturally from discovering the concept to understanding the experience and ultimately making contact. Clear navigation, considered storytelling and carefully positioned calls to action make that journey intuitive without making the website feel overtly sales-driven.
Designing for emotion
Designing for how the business actually sells.
Some businesses sell primarily through specification, price or convenience.
Others need to create an emotional connection first.
Outwood Retreats is one of them.
The website therefore places particular emphasis on atmosphere, imagery, space and storytelling — allowing the brand to communicate a feeling rather than simply presenting information.
This demonstrates Gro-Star's ability to adapt digital design to the way a particular business actually sells.

The result
A digital foundation for a new wellbeing brand
The result is a distinctive, premium digital presence that gives Outwood Retreats a strong foundation from which to develop its brand and business.
The website brings together the concept, visual identity, messaging and customer journey in one coherent experience.
It provides Outwood Retreats with a professional platform to showcase the proposition, build awareness, communicate with prospective guests and support the next stage of the business's development.
